On March 3rd, 1905, a mysterious, unsigned comic strip appeared in the comic supplement of The Chicago Tribune. "Lucy and Sophie Say Goodbye" sees two women (molded in the model of the Gibson girls) who never seem to be able wrap up their prolonged goodbye kisses. Much to the chagrin of their husbands (and the rest of Chicago, for that matter), chaos is never far behind the second the lips of these lovestruck ladies meet.

The anonymous comic strip ran for thirty-three weeks until October 15th, 1905, when—in a hurried, half-colored, and almost unfinished finale—Lucy and Sophie are, tragically, abducted by men in overcoats and institutionalized for being "crazy ones." The comic strip was largely forgotten shortly thereafter.

We aim to give Lucy and Sophie the voice they were deprived of. We plan let Lucy and Sophie say goodbye, hello, and anything else they care to—no matter how long it takes them.

We will let Lucy and Sophie speak.
